Out with the 80s and in with the updated traditional. We love taking something old and repurposing it; giving it new life!
Who doesn’t love a good before and after?
Not many people can say that they work well with their best friend, let alone with their spouse.. but it just works for my wife and I. We both instinctively see something that is outdated or needs a little TLC and take the challenge head on. That’s exactly what we did with this kitchen. She had the vision of taking this dark outdated 1980s kitchen and making it lighter, brighter.. more functional. And I was the proverbial muscle.
The cabinets were too low, stained dark walnut, and there was that darn bulk head above them. But we decided that rather than trashing the cabinets, which were oak, we’d reconfigure and refinish them.
One of our favorite projects
We couldn’t have been happier with the finished product on this kitchen! With freshly chalk painted cabinets (inside and out), new under cabinet lighting, as well as recessed lighting in the ceiling, new appliances, a calm grey on the walls and bright white ceilings, the room really came together.
The kitchen had a new flow with the knee wall bar gone and the patio door now located in the kitchen rather than the dining room. Perfect for entertaining both inside and out.. And who wouldn’t want to host parties with appliances like these? Before there was a lack of counter space, so we added a coffee area that also doubled as a wine bar. It gave extra storage and helped to balance the room!
While our main focus is custom furniture and home goods, we’re always up for an interesting project. If you’d like to speak with us regarding a project you have in mind, email us! info@lifelovelumber.com
